I see the sun shining.
Yesterday was a beautiful day, as is today. It was the first really warm, sunny day of the season. It was my ideal day: sunny, a few clouds, 60-70 degree temperature range, light breeze. I had a lot to do, so I didn't get to really enjoy it in the manner in which I would have most preferred. However, Anthony came by and convinced me to at least try and enjoy it for a few hours.
He and I went down to the park and climbed on top of a large rock in a slightly wooded area. We situated ourselves in a manner that gave us a view of the playground equipment an the parked cars as well as a more woods-like area. We were shaded, but the sun still kissed our skin through the branches. It really was the perfect spot.
Anthony and I sat there taking it all in and talking for a good, long while. We joked about the children on the playground and climbing on the rocks around us. We discussed the psychology of playground equipment choices made by children. We talked about sex, past relationships, current relationships, and the future. We shared stories and, pre chance, secrets that no one else knows. It was nice to sit down and talk in the sunshine with a person I hope to count as a better friend.
I've never known someone quite like Anthony. He's been through so much that would break any normal person, and yet he is so well-adjusted. He is a kind, caring individual who would go to any extreme he was capable of for a friend no matter how new or weak the bond was. He is one of those people who can sit down an entirely serious conversation with you and then turn around and joke for hours. He makes it easy to be his friend.
I think all of this was exactly what I needed. I think it's what we all need. We need that Anthony in our lives. We need that person full of compassion, zest, respect, and love who is willing to take us as we are and accept it. They could be a male or female, friend or family member, or even a love interest. We just all need that type of support.
I'm really glad that I got to know Kat better and become closer to her this year. I'm glad that this also meant I got to know Anthony and become his friend.
